Second Friday Lecture Series - It will be largely drawn from a book entitled Christian Marriage: A Historical Study published by Eerdmans will serve as a springboard for the series of lectures. Many of the lectures will be given by the authors of various chapters of that book, outlining the development of marriage in the Church and society.

“The Emergence of the Modern Family.” Professor James Hitchcock is a historian and prolific author at St. Louis University. With the emergence of the modern world, marriage was no longer so dependent upon class, property and the arrangements of the parents. The Church had to adapt to these changing conditions in its administration of this sacrament.
