Mass and Ivy Hall Reception for Paul Thomas, RIP
TIME:
September 12, 2009 8:30 AM
EVENT DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Paul Andrew Michael Thomas, RIP, was a regular participant at Ivy Hall activities. Paul was particularly adept at tending bar for our gatherings. Paul had been a school teacher who later worked for the AFL-CIO teachers' union. He was deeply committed to the apostolic initiatives at Ivy Hall and even had a portion of his salary deducted every pay period to support our activities. He had left the Catholic Church for awhile, returning later with much zeal for and commitment to our Faith. Paul died in the spring after a difficult illness. Shortly after retirement he developed a brain tumor that led eventually to blindness. Nonetheless he would still try to make activities at Ivy Hall. Finally a stroke led to his final long decline and death. Many of us visited him at least once a week during the final three months of his life. A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Saturday, September 12. Those who remember and love Paul will gather at the 8:30 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Overbrook Farms (63rd and Lancaster) to pray for the repose of his soul. After the mass there will be a reception at Ivy Hall, 6331 Lancaster Avenue, for those who would like to gather in his memory to remember him and celebrate his life and his many good works. Remember in charity and justice to pray for the repose of Paul's soul. Please rsvp if you plan to attend to drjohnhaas@aol.com.
